Small Talk: 26-1

Every week HawtShit brings you a run down on shit that’s happening. Today we’re talking Twitter, PFW, Sundance and a Dilla Day in Dublin. Peace.

Twitty Twister.

Dramatic and testing times for Twitter as five of its executives quit the company. Head of product, Kevin Weil and head of media, Katie Stanton were among those to leave. To worsen the tension, head of Vine, the Twitter owned six second streamer, also called time with the company, and moved to Google. Now, we’re not stock market people, but reports over the past year have shown Twitter down on earnings. We love the tweet and live for the tweet, so hopefully our little blue bird will come out of this okay.

That’s Paris Fashion Week, doll. The French leg of the A/W16 couture shows kicked off last weekend and will run until Friday. We’d kill to hit up PFW some year, mostly for the salacious afterparties and DJ sets.

Doin It For Dilla

If you’re looking for a sweet event this weekend head to the Bernard Shaw‘s J.Dilla tribute day. There will be a screening of Dilla doc, blah blah and most the most tasty special Dilla donuts from nearby bakery Aungier Danger. Check out the deets here

note: not actual Aungier Danger donuts, they look even better than this.

Sundance Film Fest

All the filmy types are in Park City, Utah this week. What actually goes on at these film fests? Movie makers submit their work to Sundance, if selected the film or doc will be screened throughout the week to critics, agents and tastemakers. If a film generates big heat at Sundance you can be sure it’ll go on to be a big global release. At least two Irish made features have already been well received. This includes Whit Stillman’s Love & Friendship, and Sing Street, a nostalgic nod to music, youth and Dublin in the 1980s.

Everyone’s gotta start somewhere. Follow us on Twitter here!
